A Successful Week for Vale View Genetics

We entered 4 heifers into the Prime Cattle Section at the recent Toogoolawah Show. 3 of 2 & 4 teeth Droughtmaster / Limousin cross heifers & a Droughtmaster / Murray Grey cross heifer all Vale View owned & bred (from our commercial herd) were fed at Saxby Feedlot for approx 100 days.

The 3 droughtmaster/limo cross heifers were entered into the pen of 3 heifers 4 teeth & under, unsuccessful with a ribbon but managed to make the third top price female for the show & sale selling for $1310.00 each.

The droughtmaster/murray grey heifer was entered into the heifer with 4 tooth & under section, also unsuccesful with a ribbon but managed to make the second top price female for the show & sale selling for $1320.00.

The top price animal of the Toogoolawah Show & Sale was a droughtmaster cross steer owned & bred by the Haynes Family of Linville, selling for $1510. This steer was by a Vale View bull who the Haynes family purchased off us for $2200.00 back in 2010.

Our lot 1 bull for our Performance Plus Sale - 33 mth old 'Van Damme' secured the Senior Champion bull at the Toogoolawah Show as well, his first outing since this same show last year, second time to have a halter and a brush in a year, a very good effort by this bull who took it all in his stride, one way to display the faultess temperament of this bull.

Also gaining show success was Bundy Stud at Rockhampton Show through the week. Bundy Stud have purchased numerous females off us over the years and it's great to see them gaining success with them and proving themselves to breed on. One of the heifers purchased was Vale View Sequence, purchased as a 11mth old heifer as the top price at the Coolabunia Cream of the Crop sale back in 2009 for $5400. They broke Sequence in to show and she successfully won numerous broad ribbons, Sequence then backed up with her bull calf at foot (Bundy Blue Steel) to also take the show circuit by storm. Bundy Blue Steel then went on to sell for $14,000 at the 2013 DN. Sale. Sequence's next heifer has also taken the show circuit by storm this year with Bundy Crystal taking out the Interbreed Junior Female at the Rockhampton Show as well as many other broad ribbon titles at local shows this year.

A fine example of the Vale View genetics breeding on successfully for our clients. Another of the Bundy Stud successes this year has been another young heifer Bundy Diva who won Heifer Calf Champion at Rockhampton Show as well. Diva is out of Vale View Reba.
